5 Ways You Can Increase the Quality of Your Videos

Breaking down how you can make your videos better in 5 concise steps, while giving YOU a glimpse Behind the Brand . I’m sharing what I use to make my own videos as a creative business owner + I’ve even linked my go-to items under each step for you to check out, just click the links or photos to learn more! Now let’s get started.

1. Find your light

What is one thing every high production has? Great Lighting! Grab your Ring Light* or some natural light, preferably indirect, to upgrade your video quality. Lighting is SO important for making your video bright + fresh. The more I can see your beautiful face, the better!

2. Find your Angle

The next step is finding your angles + making sure you are intentional about your background. Set up your camera* or phone to frame you as the focal point in the foreground while leaving some space above your head for the background to truly frame you.

Fun Fact: Phone cameras are now just as good as basic DSLR cameras so use what you have!

3. Gather your thoughts

Use a notebook to outline your video’s main points + have it ready to access while filming. Now don’t get me wrong, we should plan out our videos, but make sure you don’t write it out word for word––that’s when your video becomes less human + more like a lecture that you’re reading.

4. Dress for the Occasion

Based on your camera’s frame, dress accordingly. Full-body shot? Wear a cute outfit head to toe (just please don’t rock the zoom call chic for that kind of filming) From a branding perspective, make sure your outfit fits your personality + brand colors, if you’re so inclined. If you’re only shooting waist up–– feel free to sport your coolest sweats* or biker shorts*.

5. Elevate your Frame

Props add a little extra oomph to your video! For my awkward hand people––this one's for YOU! Props give us something to do with our hands if you’re not comfortable in front of the camera (like me!). For example, are you going for a chill, friend chat? Add a candle* + a cup of tea in your favorite mug. Are you shooting a new clothing haul? Add small accessories*, makeup*, + your trendy new water bottle* to the foreground.

Pro Tip: A single wick soy candle lasts longer than regular 3-wick candles from places like Bath + Body Works making one soy candle worth the “investment” at a higher price point!
